IDF support service wins the praise of private doctors

Doctors are singing the praises of a new well-being support service offered to the 1,570 members of the Independent Doctors Federation (IDF).

‘Care first’ is a confidential 24/7 platform for private consultants and GPs – and their immediate families – and it aims to address any work-related or personal mental health concerns.

Part of the Priory group, it puts them in touch with a network of experienced mental health professionals who understand the unique challenges faced by doctors.

Users receive tailored guidance and support plans designed to meet their individual needs.

IDF members’ responses are featured in the organisation’s summer journal IDF News:

‘The guidance offered has made a huge difference to everyday life and has given me the confidence to keep moving forward which I was clearly lacking beforehand.’

‘I am very pleased with the services offered and the recommendation for a specific specialist in regards to menopause.’

‘My experience was overwhelmingly positive, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this service.’

Some consultant psychiatrist members of the IDF have agreed to give members clinical appointments under its wellbeing support for doctors programme, with the first one subsidised by a corporate member, Pharmacierge.

The IDF told members in its article: ‘Often overshadowed by the very care they provide, doctors themselves are susceptible to mental health challenges due to the nature of their work and the immense pressures they face.

‘This is a reality we don’t always recognise, but it’s no less true. Mental health challenges can affect anyone, including those on the front lines caring for others.’
