Independent providers donate a million items of medical supplies to Ukraine

Independent healthcare providers in the UK have now donated over one million items of medical supplies to support the effort in Ukraine.

Working in partnership with the Embassy of Ukraine in the UK, the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN) has supported nine of its members in delivering a range of medical supplies to areas where help is most needed.

The donations include items specifically requested by the Embassy of Ukraine in the UK based on the needs of the recipient government’s authorities.

These include anaesthetic machines, defibrillators, blood pressure pumps, as well as other vital medical supplies, including swabs, dressing, mask and syringes.

The nine IHPN members who donated supplies include Alliance Medical, Fortius, Horder Healthcare, Nuffield Health, Partnering Health Limited, Practice Plus Group, Ramsay Health Care, Spire Healthcare, Sciensus and The London Clinic.

Many other independent healthcare providers have also donated money and medical supplies and support to Ukraine through other routes.

IHPN assistant director Danielle Henry said: ‘In light of the devastating situation in Ukraine, IHPN has been proud to work with the Embassy of Ukraine in the UK and other non-governmental organisations to play our part in supporting the region and ensure urgently needed medical supplies can get to those in need.

‘IHPN would like to thank all our members who have donated so generously and we will continue to work with Embassy of Ukraine in the UK to offer further practical support and humanitarian assistance where we can.’

Luis Pedro, operations director at The London Clinic, said: ‘The London Clinic was hugely saddened by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and our community wanted to help in any way that we could. Working with the IHPN, we resolved to get medical supplies into the areas that need them, and to help healthcare personnel with the equipment to carry out their vital work.’

Ross Brand, chief executive at PHL Group, added: ‘Contributing over one million medical supplies with other IHPN members shows the power of people coming together for the good of others. No one should have to experience the devastation of war and, by donating supplies, we hope to show our solidarity and support with the people of Ukraine.’
