Private care bounces back during summer

A welcome rise in private healthcare insurer-funded activity has been recorded for the summer months.

Some areas returned to pre-lockdown treatment levels and hospital patient numbers, according to the data from Healthcode, the UK’s official clearing organisation for private medical bills.

It reported that August 2020 saw insurer-funded activity in the sector reach 74% of the level achieved 12 months earlier, while some specialties exceeded their previous year’s performance.
