Taxman warns of rise in scams using cash baits

Taxpayers have been warned to continue to beware of phishing scams allegedly eminating from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Despite continued action and warnings, cases continue to rise, with criminals using increasingly sophisticated methods to target the unwary. 

They use landlines, emails, text messages and social media to distribute bogus HMRC information and it is increasingly difficult to know which forms of HMRC contact you can trust.
