Private opportunities from new GP contract
By Douglas Shepherd
Private providers are ready for any new business arising from a revised NHS GPs’ contract in England.
That is the message from the sector’s trade body the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN).
The new five-year contract for GPs will see the development of Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and these have been welcomed by IHPN chief executive David Hare.
He said the primary and community sector had for too long not had the funding or focus it deserved.
But he believes these new networks will now help foster more joined-up working between local services and ensure patients get the right care, at the right time, in the right setting.
