Timing is everything

The paperwork around filing year-end accounts isn’t everyone’s idea of fun – although the resulting profit calculations hopefully will be. Susan Hutter gives her tips.

Filing cabinetIndependent practitioners who trade as a limited company have to file their year-end accounts within nine months of that year end.

A popular year-end date for companies is 31 December. So accounts for the year to 31 December 2016 will have to be filed by 30 September 2017 and the corporation tax must be paid on 1 October 2017.
