Referral to GMC is a bitter pill to swallow

Abuse of prescribing is being taken very seriously by the GMC and is in the top three areas where doctors are asking for more information. Dr Gail Gilmartin gives some topical advice. 

Prescribing is a complex area and can be the source of a wide range of problems, from simple harmless errors to significant fatal mistakes and serious ethical dilemmas about patient safety.

It will hardly come as a surprise to hear that practitioners who abuse prescribing can face erasure from the medical register.
